So, first thing’s first – what is a yoga bolster and why do you need one?  A yoga bolster is a shaped cushion used in different styles of yoga, especially restorative yoga (yoga postures that are held for several minutes at a time resulting in calming the body and mind).  They are designed to provide support for certain parts of the body to make certain yoga positions more comfortable and to prevent injury

Well, with a disease that has been around so long, it only makes sense to look for a solution in a methodology that has also been around for a long time … yoga! But how can exercises help when you’re already in pain?

The bending and twisting movements involved in chair yoga also stimulate the elimination of toxins within the body. With each bend in any direction at the waist, the stomach aids in digestion and the lower back is stimulated.

Rectangular bolsters are great for poses requiring stable support and can replace stacks of blankets in some asanas (lotus or cross-legged position).

If you have moderate to severe arthritis pain you really need to consult a trained yoga specialist who can tailor poses to your specific situation. But if your arthritis is still in the mild stages, you can probably find relief by developing your own program by referring to any book or CD available at your public library or online
